Back to life. Back to reality.
Our South American travel adventures are a thing of the past. We’re back in California trying to get re-established. I have decided to pursue teaching mathematics so it’s back to school full time for me. I’m at Sac State going for my teaching credential. In the meantime, I have been running and trying to stay healthy.
So far in 2010 for my age group:
- 10th place in Run Rocklin 12k
- 1st place in Sac State 5k
- 1st place in Roseville Memorial Day 5K (8th place overall)

Hi Wayne & Susan,
My name is Cecile, i am a 48 year old female diagnosed with Kjers disease 28 years ago. Don’t lose hope, I am not blind yet after 28 years. I do have low vision, but with the help of a terrific low vision specialist I do have glasses I can still read with, and a bioptic lens to drive with. (restricted to daylight only driving since I was 27) and doctor informs me this will be my last licence. I am grateful for the vision I do have left and like you, I am trying to live life to the fullest. Best of luck to you. Cecile

Hey
There’s hope out there for the people with Kjer’s – my mother currently has it and she is 74 years old. She has never driven, but does ride her bike where she needs to go shopping, and can still read. Like many of the ‘chronologically gifted’ (she is here, so I better not say ‘old’), she has had cataract surgery, with the results not affecting the vision one way or the other. Good job on the marathon – my joints end up aching too much when I run past 10 miles, so you have my admiration.
